Look: Dortmund residents open doors to stranded Monaco fans

There was an outpouring of generosity in Dortmund when AS Monaco fans found themselves stranded in the German city after an attack on Borussia Dortmund’s bus forced the postponement of Tuesday’s Champions League encounter.

The first leg of the Champions League quarter-final match was postponed until Wednesday after three explosions went off near Dortmund’s bus, leaving thousands of Monaco fans without accommodations Tuesday evening.

Dortmund residents were quick to open their doors to Monaco supporters, as a #BedsForAwayFans campaign was launched on social media.

The gesture came shortly after Monaco fans inside the stadium voiced their support after learning about the attack by chanting “Dortmund, Dortmund” inside the Westfalenstadion before the match was called off.

The ensuing acts of kindness resulted in a series of photos showing both sets of fans enjoying an evening together.

It didn’t take Twitter user @Vespafoto long to attract new friends after posting a message detailing how many Monaco fans he was able to accommodate:
