Loic Remy vowed not to return to Las Palmas after manager Paco Jemez allegedly treated him like “like a piece of shit” when he was one minute late for a team dinner.
Remy has been absent from every matchday squad since Jemez was hired on Dec. 27, but is still the bottom-placed side’s top scorer with five league goals. He was told he was surplus to requirements alongside Oussama Tannane when the pair breached disciplinary protocol.
“The coach treated me like a piece of shit when all this happened,” Remy told newspaper La Provincia in an interview published on Friday, as translated by Reuters.
He added: “I never expected to be in France now, I expected to be playing and scoring goals for my team and trying to get them out of this bad situation.”
Remy and Tannane both arrived on the Canary Islands last summer as Las Palmas looked to build on a 14th-placed finish the previous term. However, instability has marred the club’s third straight La Liga season as three separate managers have manned the helm.

If the former Nice, Marseille, Newcastle United, and Chelsea forward’s accusations are to be believed, Las Palmas has chosen a harsh disciplinarian as its latest handler.
“Tannane and I were in the hotel and we arrived late to the dinner, one minute late. We have no excuse because as professionals we need to be on time but it’s also no excuse for a coach to kick two players out like this,” he said.
“The coach spoke to the president and he came to speak to us but he (Jemez) didn’t have enough balls to stand up to me and tell me why he didn’t want me.”
Jemez refutes Remy’s version of events, and claims the Frenchman was in fact late twice and didn’t introduce himself. Jemez then told Remy he wasn’t wanted while he was in charge.
“For me, the Remy case is finished. I don’t want to hear about him any more,” the coach said.
